Background Information:
Oncogene E6/E7 encoded by the high-risk HPV genome can only express their gene products, E6 and E7 oncoprotein after the integration of viral genes into the host (human) genome. Indepth studies and vast research reports have established the oncogenic roles of E6 and E7 protein, and their molecular and cellular mechanisms in tumorigenesis of HPV transformed human host cells. E7 protein plays a key role in disrupting the signal pathway of cell cycle, leading to the transformation and tumorigenesis of cervical epithelial cells. Therefore, E6 and E7 protein represent an ideal choice of molecular target for therapeutics and for cancer diagnosis.
E7 antibody reagent kits (E7-ICC, E7-IHC)offer high specificity and high affinity for identification of E7 positive cancer cells. Clinical samples treated with E7 antibodies via immunochemical methods can be observed under a microscope for brown stains on cancer cells, allowing a sensitive and more specific identification of cervical cancer at an early stage, e.g. precancerous lesions that can progress to high-grade lesions or cancer.
E7-ICC biomarker test is recommended to use as a primary screening test. It can also be used to triage patients with HPV-positive results, therefore, reducing doctor referral rates and unnecessary invasive treatments. A positive E7-ICC result should be followed for further diagnosis, such as colposcopy and pathology test on tissue biopsies.
