Informa Exhibitions, the world's largest exhibitions organiser, has announced that the Mediconex Exhibition & Congress will be rebranded as North Africa Health. The re-imagined healthcare event will be held at the Egypt International Exhibition Center (EIEC), Cairo, on 6-8 April 2019. The rebranding follows Informa's completion of the full acquisition of the Mediconex brand servicing the crucial North African healthcare market and brings the event in line with the global Informa portfolio of market leading B2B healthcare exhibitions including Arab Health, Hospitalar, FIME, MEDLAB Middle East and Africa Health, among others.

There were about 5,000 primary health clinics in Egypt, up to 100 large public hospitals, 1,000 to 2,000 private hospitals (of which only a third were large and the remaining two-thirds were small clinics with just one or two doctors), and a handful of charity hospitals.Egypt's medical market can also radiate to the African continent.Egypt is like a gateway to Africa, connecting Europe and Asia by sea and land, and the Suez Canal connecting the Mediterranean (southern Europe and North Africa) to the Red Sea (Middle East) and the Indian Ocean.As the Egyptian government stabilizes, the Egyptian health market will continue to play this role, because no other country in Africa can replace Egypt's role.In north Africa right now, Libya is at war;Algeria has a smaller population than Egypt and a less stable internal situation;Morocco and Tunisia are too small to have much influence;Sudan is not only underdeveloped, but also currently divided.
