For over 25 years the Kazakhstan International Healthcare Exhibition - KIHE - is the largest demonstration platform of achievements in the field of scientific and practical medicine and pharmaceuticals in Central Asia. KIHE annually brings together doctors of various specialties, pharmacists, government officials and businesspersons from different countries.
Annually the manufacturers and suppliers of medical equipment, devices, consumables for clinics and laboratories; medical products for various purposes; equipment for the production, packaging and labeling of pharmaceuticals take part in KIHE.
Foreign medicines registered in Kazakhstan come from 57 countries and are produced in 99 countries.Kazakhstan's domestic medicines are mainly herbal preparations.The annual per capita drug use in Kazakhstan is us $18.82, compared with US $80-120 in Eastern European countries and US $124-345 in developed countries.
More than 55,800 doctors and 119,000 nurses are self-employed in Kazakhstan, and more than 200 companies sell medical equipment and pharmaceuticals.According to the public health Reform and Development plan approved by the Republic of Kazakhstan, public expenditure on public health will increase to 5% of GDP in 2016.The public health development component will cost $18 billion from 2015 to 2017.
According to the Ministry of Public Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan, imports of medical equipment increased by 95 per cent, while 97 per cent of medical preparations circulated on the market through the private sector.Today, kazakhstan has more than 100 countries registered pharmaceutical representative companies.The largest suppliers of pharmaceutical preparations are from Russia, Germany, France and the United States.
